Sometimes there is a need to have a running count of something, usually detail lines, when creating the XML.\u00a0 It\u2019s not good enough to know you have 3 detail lines, you want the detail lines to be numbered 1, 2, 3.<\/p>\n

You\u00a0need to do three things in the Text to XML Editor.<\/p>\n

1. For the Line you want to count, set a value for the Counter parameter.\u00a0 This is just a name.\u00a0 It can be pretty much anything you want.<\/p>\n

2. To that Line, add a Parameter. Set the Counter field to the same value you used in the Line.<\/p>\n

3. If the incoming data can contain more than one instance of the report the Counter has to be reset between instances.<\/p>\n

4. The XML output should now contain an incrementing sequence number.<\/p>\n
