To be able to print a label, you must create a shipping item, create a sales order with the shipping item, and fulfill the sales order with the box checked to generate a shipping label.<\/p>\n<p>For a list of compatible thermal printers, visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ups.com\/content\/us\/en\/resources\/sri\/pri.html\">UPS.com<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fedex.com\/us\/ship-manager\/software\/resources\/support\/printer-drivers.html\">Fedex.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>To print labels in EPL or ZPL format using a thermal printer:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>ZPL format is currently supported by USPS and UPS services.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To install the thermal printer driver on a Windows PC<\/li>\n<li>To set up your NetSuite account to print shipping labels in EPL or ZPL format<\/li>\n<li>To print a shipping label in EPL or ZPL format<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>To install the thermal printer driver on a Windows PC:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are four distinct stages to setting up the printer driver:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Install the driver according to the printer manufacturer\u2019s instructions.<\/li>\n<li>Sharing the printer on a network.<\/li>\n<li>Creating a batch file to send the label files to the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Adding the appropriate file extension and assigning default program associations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Sharing the Printer<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>After installing the printer driver supplied by the printer manufacturer<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to Control Panel &gt; Devices and Printers.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the icon for your printer.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Printer properties<\/strong>, then the\u00a0<strong>Sharing<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Share This Printer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Share Name\u00a0<\/strong>field, enter the name of the printer, such as LP 2844. Make sure the printer name contains no spaces.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><strong>Creating the Batch File<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>NetSuite uses a batch file, called label. bat, to send the EPL2 and ZPL labels to a printer. If you created this file earlier, delete it before proceeding.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open a text editor such as Notepad or WordPad.<\/li>\n<li>If you are printing to a local printer using a USB port, enter the following, replacing \u2018PrinterName&#8217; with the name of your printer. Do not replace \u2018ComputerName&#8217; with the name of your computer. It will change dynamically when the batch file runs.\n<pre>Net use LPT2: \\\\%ComputerName%\\PrinterName\n\nCopy %1 LPT2\n\nNet use LPT2: \/Delete<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you are using a network thermal printer, enter the following, replacing &#8216;Server&#8217; with the print server name and &#8216;PrinterName&#8217; with the name of your printer:\n<pre>print \/d:\\\\Server\\PrinterName %1<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong>. In Filename, enter\u00a0<strong>bat<\/strong>, (replacing the .txt suffix with .bat).<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>All Files\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0<strong>Save as Type<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select a location to save the file to and click\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><strong>Add the appropriate file extension to Windows Index<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Completing these steps ensures that you will be able to search for your EPL2 and .ZPL files using Windows search.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the\u00a0<strong>Start<\/strong> Enter\u00a0<strong>Indexing\u00a0<\/strong>and click\u00a0<strong>Enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Indexing Options\u00a0<\/strong>window, click\u00a0<strong>Advanced<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the\u00a0<strong>File Types<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Add new extension to list\u00a0<\/strong>field, add\u00a0<strong>epl2<\/strong>\u00a0and click\u00a0. Repeat for\u00a0<strong>zpl<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><strong>Setting a default program to open the batch file<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Complete these steps if you want to open EPL2 or ZPL files from your desktop.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Save the EPL2 or ZPL file to your desktop.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the saved file.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Open With<\/strong>, then\u00a0<strong>Choose default program<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Browse\u00a0<\/strong>and find the\u00a0<strong>bat<\/strong>\u00a0file. Click\u00a0<strong>Open<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Check the\u00a0<strong>Always use the selected to open this kind of file.<\/strong> Click\u00a0<strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click the saved\u00a0<strong>EPL2\u00a0<\/strong>or\u00a0<strong>ZPL<\/strong>\u00a0file and select\u00a0<strong>Properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>General\u00a0<\/strong>tab, click\u00a0<strong>Change<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select a program from the list or click\u00a0<strong>Browse\u00a0<\/strong>to select the label.bat file you saved earlier.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>To set up your NetSuite account to print shipping labels in EPL or ZPL format:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Set up your NetSuite account to print using either EPL or ZPL format. Printer types that can use this format include certain Zebra, Eltron, and Epson printers. ZPL format is available for FedEx, USPS and UPS shipping accounts and offers up to four times faster print speeds compared to the EPL format.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Before fulfilling the order, go to\u00a0Setup &gt; Accounting &gt; Setup Tasks &gt; Shipping.<\/li>\n<li>Click the shipping account you want to use to print the label.<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Label Type\u00a0<\/strong>field, select from the options below. For FedEx shipping accounts, select the\u00a0<strong>Label Stock Orientation\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Doctab Location<\/strong>\u00a0for the EPL label that you use.\u00a0You have the option to print EPL labels with or without doctabs only with FedEx shipping accounts. Click\u00a0<strong>Submit<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<table style=\"height: 184px;\" width=\"462\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"90\"><strong>Format<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"202\"><strong>Available Shipping Accounts<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"90\">EPL (4 x 6)<\/td>\n<td width=\"196\">Fedex, UPS, USPS<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"90\">EPL (4 x 8)<\/td>\n<td width=\"196\">UPS<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"90\">ZPL (4 x 6)<\/td>\n<td width=\"196\">UPS<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"90\">ZPL (4 x 8)<\/td>\n<td width=\"196\">UPS<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"92\">ZPLII (4 x 6)<\/td>\n<td width=\"194\">USPS, FedEx<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2><strong>To print a shipping label in EPL or ZPL format:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>After you have fulfilled the order, go to\u00a0Transactions &gt; Management &gt; Print Checks and Forms.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Integrated Shipping Labels<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Starting Label\u00a0<\/strong>field, enter\u00a0<strong>1<\/strong>\u00a0to begin printing on the first label of the first sheet of labels. Enter\u00a0<strong>2<\/strong>\u00a0to begin printing on the second column, or second label, on the sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Select a carrier to print labels for or select\u00a0<strong>All<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Leave the\u00a0<strong>Single Label Per Page\u00a0<\/strong>box clear. This preference is for printing in PDF format.<\/li>\n<li>Optionally, select a location.<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Print\u00a0<\/strong>column, check the box next to each order you want to print a label for.\n<ul>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Mark All<\/strong>\u00a0to check the boxes for all items.<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>Order Date\u00a0<\/strong>for an order to view the sales order.<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>Ship Date\u00a0<\/strong>to view the\u00a0<strong>Item Fulfillment<\/strong>\u00a0for that order.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Print<\/strong>. A window opens with instructions on how to download your label.
